Legendary Latin sensation Arturo Sandoval to perform in rare West Coast concert February 17, 2007
The Ventura Music Festival is kicking off its 13th season with a bang by bringing Latin Jazz legend ARTURO SANDOVAL to Ventura for one special command performance on FEBRUARY 17th, 2007.  The special crossover concert is sponsored by the Meister Family Foundation.

The Meister Foundation, founded by the late Larry Meister and his wife, Barbara, will bring what is being billed as an unforgettable evening of sensual and innovative music from world-class Latin-Jazz performer Arturo Sandoval at 8:00 pm on February 17, 2006 at the Ventura High School Auditorium.

“We are pleased to be involved with the Ventura Music Festival,” said Barbara Meister. “Arturo Sandoval is a gifted performer and we are thrilled to sponsor this special evening of entertainment.”

Fluent in at least four musical languages, Sandoval is one of the most brilliant musicians of our time, attaining worldwide recognition as a true crossover artist who lights up the stage in anticipation and execution of sultry grooves, bebop tunes, Mozart concertos and luscious ballads that leave fans enthralled with each performance.

Cheryl Heitmann, Executive Director of the Ventura Music Festival, said “The magnetism Arturo Sandoval creates on stage is incredible. He is a powerful performer and we are thrilled he has agreed to bring his talent to the 2007 Ventura Music Festival in our special crossover series.”

Sandoval's versatility can be heard on recordings with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Woody Shaw, Michel Legrand, Bill Conti, and Stan Getz to Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Rod Stewart, Celine Dion, The Boston Pops, John Wiliams, Tony Bennett, Patti LaBelle, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys amongst many others.  He has been awarded four Grammy Awards, six Billboard Awards and an Emmy Award for musical contribution to a recent HBO special.
