Giuseppe Albanese presents a quintessentially romantic
program featuring Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata, Schubert's
Wanderer Fantasy (a work Schubert himself found too difficult
to play), Chopin's Polonaise-Fantasy, and Liszt's virtuoso
Reminiscences of Norma.
Albanese's many prizes include First
Prize at the Premio Venezia International Piano Competition,
best performance of contemporary music at the 54th Busoni
International Piano Competition and First Prize at the
2nd "Vendome Prize" International Piano Competition in
2003. He has performed in all major theatres in Italy and
in solo recitals and with orchestras in Berlin, London,
Lisbon and New York. In 1998, he recorded his first CD
in Rome containing the Fantasies of Schubert, Chopin, Schumann
and Scriabin. Three subsequent recordings include the music
of Mendelssohn, Debussy, Szymanowski, Bartok and MacDowell.
