VMF’s Music in the Schools program serves upwards of 4,000 elementary school children in both school and after-school settings, including Casa Pacifica and Boys & Girls Clubs. Its sponsors: Aera Energy LLC and Harmony Music Center.

The VMF Young Artists Fund underwrites the performances and often the professional debuts of outstanding young musicians who have emerged from local, regional and national competitions in diverse Festival and pre-Festival programs. Many VMF Young Artists have gone on to forge promising careers in concert halls that span the globe. The VMF Young Artists Fund also offers free or heavily discounted tickets to young artists for all Festival concerts.

VMF Student Jazz Competition Winners at Squashed Grapes

Thursday of Festival Week 2 features winners of the 11th VMF Student Jazz Competition playing with jazz quartet Coda at Squashed Grapes, a small jazz club in mid-town Ventura (2351 E Main St). Coda leads off at 7 pm with the students performing during the second set about 8 pm.
