Angel Blue is one of opera's most celebrated sopranos today, recognized worldwide for her warm soprano voice and deeply affecting performances of beloved roles including Aida, Tosca, Violetta in La Traviata, Bess in Porgy and Bess, Mimì in La bohème, and Liu in Turandot. A two-time Grammy Award winner, 2020 Beverly Sills Award recipient, and 2022 Richard Tucker Award winner, she has performed at the world's most prestigious opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, and Paris Opera, among many others. As much as her vocal talent, it is her warm and genuine nature that leaves a lasting impression on all who encounter her.
Her 2025/26 season highlights include performances as Bess in Houston Grand Opera's new production of Porgy and Bess, a return to the Opéra National de Paris for Tosca, and engagements at the Metropolitan Opera for both La bohème and Turandot. On the concert stage, she will perform with the Houston Symphony, appear at the Konzerthaus Vienna for a Christmas concert, and give recitals with pianist Bryan Wagorn at the Reykjavik Arts Festival, Spivey Hall, and Four Arts Palm Beach. Her previous season was equally expansive, featuring her long-awaited Met debut as Aida under conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, a company debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper, appearances at Carnegie Hall, and a conclusion at the Arena di Verona.
